Welcome Parker Clay

As we celebrate Women’s History Month around the Block, we are excited to welcome Parker Clay to Free Market! Parker Clay joins our micro-district as yet another business that breaks the bias of female employment and empowerment. Owned by husband and wife duo, Ian and Brittany, Parker Clay makes premium leather bags, totes, wallets, and more while supporting women in their own community.

Parker Clay built their business on a simple premise, to make “a better bag for a better world”. Their journey began when a news story caught their family’s eyes about the startling number of orphans in Ethiopia, and by 2012, they were living in the country with their two sons and two adopted daughters. Quickly realizing the obstacles many women faced in Ethiopia, they longed for a way to support their communities and make a difference for vulnerable women.

With a mission to promote craftsmanship, sustainability, and safe working spaces, they started Parker Clay. By hiring at-risk women to hand-make their products, providing all of the training, resources, and financial literacy opportunities necessary, they are empowering women to build careers and establish independence.
