Blanchard Family Wines was one of the first businesses to join our Dairy Block family in 2018. Hailing from Sonoma, California originally, co-owners James, Mark, and Shanna Blanchard wanted to bring their California wine style to Colorado and join the collaborative community here on the Block.
Blanchard Family Wines sources grapes from both California and Colorado, blending and bottling all of their wines here on-site. But don’t expect to only find Blanchard-made wines at their tasting room! They bring in wines from the Western Slope to feature on the front range, offering Denver a chance to experience all that Colorado wines have to offer. In fact, Blanchard carries more Colorado wine than any liquor store or restaurant in the state!
The main philosophy of Blanchard Family Wines is to uplift their community of winemakers and wine-lovers alike, providing a welcoming gathering space and supporting causes they believe in. They maintain longstanding partnerships with non-profits that empower women and children, especially those that focus on homelessness and education. James recommends a flight of half red, half white wines, split between California and Colorado grapes. This is the perfect representation of what Blanchard Family Wines does, highlighting their diverse selection and a plethora of wine-makers. "I don't have a favorite wine, style, or producer... I like high-quality, well-made, well-represented brands and wines, no matter where they're from."
Blanchard offers four sparkling wines that play into the concept of half-California wines and half-Colorado wines, making for a perfectly light and nuanced flight if you're a sparkling wine fan. "I absolutely love [sparkling wine], not just because you 'celebrate with bubbles'... I will spend every day with bubbles."
Get your tickets to A Taste of Colorado, an event celebrating Colorado winemakers! Your ticket includes a 4 wine flight, featuring wines from 4 different Front Range wineries (presented by the winemaker), a locally-sourced charcuterie board, and a raffle ticket for various prizes. Blanchard is teaming up with Denver Locals to benefit CAVE – The Colorado Association for Viticulture and Enology. 50% of ticket sales will be donated to help in the efforts of supporting Colorado grape growers and wineries.
